Description
Hello! This auction is for a RARE MINT NEVER HINGED Die-Cutting OMITTED ERROR Plate Number Coil Strip of 7 of Scott #3281 e , the 33c Flag Over City Self-Adhesive Coil, Plate #5555 --- With SMALL "1999" Year Date . The plate number is on the Middle stamp. There appears to be some slight staining that may have been caused during stamp production at the bottom of the strip on the face---no staining is present on the BACKING paper as it is clear-- SEE ABOVE SCANS . This Small date variety IS listed in Scott's catalogue of Errors, 18th Edition, but ONLY Plate Numbers 2222, 3433 are acknowledged. No value is assigned for #2222, $2250.00 is the assigned value for a strip with plate number #3433, with 2 strips known. In the September 2023 Kelleher auction of PNC Imperf Errors, #2222 AND #5555 were sold for $2250 (this amount includes the buyer's premium). In the auction catalogue, it was noted that the #5555 sold was "Likely Unique". Apparently not. This PNC7 has no other faults or flaws, aside from the staining noted above. It is unusual to find strips of this length as early PNCs errors were customarily collected in strips of 5 or 6. As noted above there is no acknowledgement of this plate number but based on auction realizations and the value for Plate #2222, it is safe to assume that the catalogue value for this strip/Plate Number is $2250.00. The strip is mint never hinged. The scan of the strip above represents the strip that you will receive. This imperforate strip will be shipped FREE USPS first- class insured with tracking. Check out my other imperforate coil error listings, INCLUDING OTHER SCARCE/RARE ITEMS! I'm a 20 year member of the APS and PNC3 Thanks for looking!
